Gimme A Break – It’s Actually OK To Not Do Things

“Your mind will answer most questions if you learn to relax and wait for the answer.” — William S. Burroughs

The past couple of days I haven’t done much in the way of writing. If some of you don’t see much change in the pacing of these posts then it’s because I wrote them in advance.

Look, as much as I’m for hard work, I’m equally as much for giving yourself a break. Especially now during the summer lull.

To be honest, most of my time since last Thursday has gone into spending time with the people I love. That’s a solid 4 days without any real writing or working.

Had this been just a couple of years ago I would’ve felt guilty, thought about all the missed opportunities, and probably tried to compensate by working my ass off for a month straight.

Fortunately, I can afford to make other choices now and realize that it’s OK to not do things that I perhaps “should”.

While we can’t slouch our way to the top, it’s OK to give yourself a break every once in a while.

The only people you’re really accountable to are the people you love and to yourself.

When’s the last time you gave yourself a real break that wasn’t a vacation or holiday? How did you spend it?

Have a kick-ass ₢eative day!
