Overfought – Overthinking Isn’t The Problem, Not Taking Action Is

“I second-guess and overthink and rethink every single thing that I do.”

– Taylor Swift

Overthinking isn’t a problem unless we use it to procastinate and/or it prevents us from taking action on something we really want to accomplish.

The major thing one can do is to accept that it happens from time to time. It’s not something we can switch on or off.

We start by first recognizing when it happens, take a breath, and then redirect our attention to actually taking steps in the direction we want to go.

In that way it’s kind of like meditation. Whenever our mind wanders we accept that it’s happened and again turn our focus to our breathing.

Overthinking WomanThere, there… Take a deep breath.

It’s never going to completely go away and there are times when we’ll fail miserably. It will however get a lot better with time and practice.

Also, knowing that we’re in good company can help alleviate the burden.

The main thing we can do is to take action. That way we’ll teach ourselves to not let overthinking rule our behaviour.

Have a kick-ass ₢eative day!
