There’s so much more to a book than just the reading. – Maurice Sendak
In honor of World Book Day this’ll be a totes short post, you hear? Just some recommended reading and a quick little question at the end.
So, here’s a selection o’ books!
“So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed” – Jon Ronson
Really great book, gives us pause to think about how we delight in others mistakes and gang up on them. Especially in light of recent events involving Britt McHenry. Makes us question whether shaming actually is a useful tool or if there’s just might be a better way to go about it.
“My Journey With Maya” – Tavis Smiley
A very personal account of his dialogues with Maya and some wonderful insights into her personal thoughts & feelings. We often put people like Maya on a pedestal and in the book we get an amazing example of Maya’s humility when a student glorifies her and she proceeds to crush those illusions. Highly recommend this book.
“Chasing the Monster Idea” – Stefan Mumaw
Fear not! This book provides some great insights into the creative process, marketing & innovation.
A kick in the pants to get us going. We get to tag along on a journey many of us want to take but are a teeny bit scared to. Here Wes shows the road he had to take and while not always easy it always led him to where he needed to go.
Question to you: What’s the book you’re celebrating World Book Day with?
Let me know in the comments section or hit me up on Twitter and we’ll have a pow wow.
Have a kick-ass creative World Book Day!
