I Call Bull!

“Art is the elimination of the unnecessary.” – Pablo Picasso

It’s finished! After working for more than a month and going through 11 iterations the work is complete!

Picasso Bull Plate 11

Dude… 1 month? Eleven versions? For serious?

Ok, ok, ok… So here’s what happened…

Pablo Picasso decided that he wanted to deconstruct the essence of a bull and capture the process. What he started out with was what most people would call “the finished product”. Step by step he took away the do-dah’s and frills to get to the core.

Picasso Bull

Mmm… Sweet process…

How can we use this principal?

We could use it to get to the essence of a song, we could use it to get to the core issue within a business, we could use it to find out what motivates and drives us. Strip away layer by layer until you reach the essence. What does it look like? How does it make you feel?

Once we’ve picked it apart, we can start putting on layer by layer. Maybe leaving out those parts we don’t want, or need, to include.

He’s going for the jugular.

Here are some quotes from Picasso and reflections!

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.”

Amen! It’s like i said in a previous post: “Even if you’ve only got 1 horsepower and a rudder, baby, your cruising towards your goal”.

“Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working.”

If you’re just waiting for inspiration to strike you might not be ready for it. Show up day after day and do the work and you’re sure to be ready! Remember: Luck is what happens when opportunity meets preparation. – Seneca

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”

With time we get too critical and analytical. So if you want to be creative, get in touch with your inner child and PLAY! =D

“I am always doing that which I cannot do, in order that I may learn how to do it.”

Stretch. Reach further than you think you can and expand! If we keep within our comfort zone and don’t try to grasp the next branch we’ll never get to see the view from there. So go for it!

“Good artists copy, great artists steal.”

’nuff said.
