“When your values are clear to you, making decisions becomes easier.” – Roy E. Disney
You’ve done all you can. You’ve put in the hours. Everything is ready and… What now?
No call, no email, not even an incling of interest from record companies.
Crap. It’s over. Didn’t get chosen. Time to start flipping burgers I guess!
Waiting to get chosen means that you’re reacting to whatever is happening around you. You aren’t actively involved in your success. You might feel like you’ve done all you can, but the truth is that you’ve maybe done 80% and now your going to blame someone else if you don’t make it.
What if there’s another way? What if doesn’t involve someone choosing you out of a million other people? What if you chose yourself?
We’re lucky to be living in a time where you can create anything the way you want. Sure, we might have to pay people out of our own pocket to make sure it’s up to the quality we want. But we CAN do it!
We can reach so many people, we can get put it out there just a few moments after we’ve finished, we can choose ourselves!
In this way all your success is up to you. You’re acting and creating the opportunities and situations instead of reacting to them. Now you don’t have any excuses. Exciting, isn’t it?
With this choice comes another major change.
Now you have to lead. To choose yourself means to become a leader. It’s your vision now. There’s noone else to follow.
There’s also responsibility. All of the decisions are made by you. Good or bad, they’re yours. If you have followers they look to you for guidance, they trust your choices. As long as you’ve been honest about your intentions and values they’ll stand by you whatever the outcome. That is loyalty, trust and love.
We can try to succeed in one of two ways.
We can wait and hope to be chosen, be a follower and trust that we can get security from others.
We can act and choose ourselves, be a leader and provide security for others.
The choice is yours.
